I don't know about you (or your kids), but I am definitely suffering from back to school blues. This past week was the first week with students back on campus and it was taxing. I know many kids headed back to school recently and they are going through the same thing. My new release this week is perfect for anyone feeling this way...

Beach Bliss, Label Love & Freebie Add On

Did you ladies know that August is the number one beach vacation month in the states? Must be those sometimes soaring but sometimes comfortable August temperatures luring us all to the ocean. Why am I rambling on about the beach? Oh, just because 1) I only got back from vacation a little over 24 hours ago (I'm still wishing my toes were in the sand though) and 2) All of my releases today are beach themed!

Who doesn't have about a billion beach photos laying around? Well, maybe a lot of people, but I know that I have a lot and I think these simple labels are great for adding something a little extra to your beach layouts. Click the preview above to view in my shoppe.

Good day, ladies! I don't know if you have made this connection, but since it is the first of the month it is MIX A KIT DAY!!! That's right, all of ScrapMatters August Mix A Kit goodies are officially up in the shop and let me tell you...they are to die for. So, in case you were wondering I haven't fallen off the face of the earth...yet! I thought I would do a quick post to bring everyone back up to speed with new releases, etc. First things first though, I have some exciting news: I am officially a Pink Lady! What does that mean? That I joined Digi Scraps Drive-In, of course! My grand opening is this coming Monday, April 11 && I hope to see you there!!!

I know that I am usually a huge advocate of journaling, but I wanted to step out of the box (and take you with me) to let some my photos do the talking for a change. Bad News and New Mommy Day Kit

So you may have noticed that I have not been around much. I am sad to report that this probably will not change any time soon. In addition to wanting to rip my hair out due to juggling time between work and school and my somewhat minor creative block, Murphy has visited me again. My life enjoys reminding me that anything can and will go wrong, as it has yet again.

Backstory: I noticed that my computer had been running fairly slow so I decided to move all of my digiscrap and music files over to an external hard drive. Long story short, half of my digiscrap files went missing and I now have next to nothing to scrap with. I only have scrap kits up to folder letter "M" and I have lost all of my templates, word art, and alpha. Unfortunately, I have not purchased a winning powerball ticket as of yet so I am unable to re-purchase products I used to have or purchase any of the fabulous new products I have been drooling over. That said, I have been sitting here in tears all morning trying to figure out if there is a way to recover the missing files. Of course, the one day I actually feel inspired enough to open PSP and start scrapping this happens.

*deep breath*

But anyway, on to more exciting news. As you can see, my blog has a new look thanks to HK Designs' and Marshmella Designs new collab kit "A Mother Like No Other."

Questions and Freebie

Mainly this post is going to consist of a few questions, but have no fear I will provide a freebie at the end. I know this is highly unlikely, but I would prefer you actually answer one of my questions prior to D/Ling the freebie...a girl can dream, right?

First things first, I hope you all are doing well. Question #1: What do you want from me? I have kind of hit a block lately and I don't really know what to make--do you prefer templates, dates...what? And feel free to get specific...I love your suggestions. If you see something you like on a gallery, send me the link. Of course I will not copy it exactly because that is stealing and one of my biggest pet peeves ever, but I will do my best to put my own spin on it and still get you what you want.

Question #2: Does anyone know of any shops looking for designers? Please please please do not worry because I will still post a good deal of freebies, I am just desperate for a little extra income; I know a lot of you can identify with that.

Question #3: What are you doing later today? For those of you who have not heard yet, there is a SpeedScrap on SM today:

Today is my day off and all day I have found myself extremely tired and just feeling very blah. I sat down to get a bit of scrapping in and had trouble finding the energy and creativity to come up with anything. Instead, I roamed around the net looking at some new releases, checking my email, etc. In my inbox I found an email from one of the fabulous girls I do CT work for [Amanda of Amagination] with links to her brand-spanking-new kit Sarai. Since I didn't get any suggestions for templates, I went ahead and made a winter-themed one.

I was brainstorming ideas to scrap my Christmas Cookie Countdown, and wa-la...the template just came to me. There are two templates included in the zipped file, one with just the snowflakes and the other with spots for photos, ricrac, and string. I know that some days I am feeling more creative than others so I thought you may appreciate having more freedom with a template one day, but more of a creative push another. Recent creations and a freebie

Let me start out by saying Happy Thanksgiving! I know it is a day early, but the holidays are among us and that means things are CRAZY busy [translation: I don't want to wait until tomorrow and end up forgetting]. Today is my day off and once again instead of being productive and getting all of the things on my to do list done, here I am scrapping, designing, and doing everything except what I set out to do today. So, before I get to all of that productive nonsense, I thought I would drop in to share some of my recent layouts with you. I have five layouts to share, going from oldest to most recent.

I am really not a fan of this layout, but it is slowing growing on me...

This is obviously SO SO SO true!!

I never believed it when I was in college, but it really was an awesome time.

Random fact: My mother took at least one picture of me on a carousel a year. She has a frame in the shape of a carousel horse she puts them all in.

Rant and some lays

Seriously, do my layouts suck? I mean, I know that there are far more talented people out there and I still have a lot to learn, but I didn't think I was a royal failure at this passion of mine. Unfortunately, it seems many others do. As part of my CT requirements, I try to play the praise game at DST; when I do, I go through at least 2 or 3 pages, leaving comments for the people who posted on those few pages before me. How many do I get in return? Well, on the last two I posted (the one of Christina & Gilmore Girls using Eve by Amagination), I got 4 and 6 comments. Yeah that's right, single digits. The most comments I have on any layouts there is 8 [this layout was also listed in praise game]. I mean, I don't expect everyone to fall at my feet and worship my work, but when I leave comments on certain layouts that already has three pages or 30+ it makes me feel like I am basically just wasting a whole lot of my time. I have no intention of quitting because I just love it too much; I just wanted to vent my frustration. Thanks for reading or at least scrolling by.

Now, on to other things. Like I mentioned in a previous post, I am totally addicted to the challenges over at ScrapMatters forum. Well, my addiction has been growing because so far this month I have done eighteen challenges [and yes, I am aware that I have done more challenges than there is days in this month so far]. Below are some of the layouts I created for these fabulously addicting challenges.

You know what I love most about these challenges? A lot. First of all, they are challenging...duh! I love being challenged to look at my photos from a different perspective and create something I normally wouldn't. Secondly, I don't always have the best creativity and these challenges give me a little push. Template challenges obviously give me a good starting grounds, grand theft layout gives me a basis to run with, in living color allows me to build an entire layout from colors before I even choose a photo, inspiration challenge lets me find inspiration in places I would never think to look, everyday magic gives me a topic to focus on...oh, the list goes on! And lastly, I love that the girls over there actually care. They spend so much of their time on there helping people, creating addicting challenges, and praising the work of SM member...it's absolutely fabulous! *Side note: my layout comments actually reach the double digits there...well into them!*
